@Sawahya You could also set up a deal with a trade network. For example, we could distribute new technologies through our industrial branch, teaching our crafters the new design and have them mass-produce it for the markets. While the initial patent lasts we can ask a higher price and a part of that flows back to the university to fund further research and expansion. I think this could be very lucrative for both of us while it also benefits the entirety of Nirath. :)
@Snergle Yes it's probably a good idea to start as Carpenter. I think that a Shipwright will have an interface similar to an architect. That is, he will be designing the blueprints of the ships, while other people builds it. We are in the same Duchy, so I'm sure we can work together :D The more we are in the guild the better!
@Aedhan In England that would have just been called a feudal levy or be referred to as a lord's army - but we turned to scutage pretty quickly (relatively speaking at least), so might view this sort of thing with a different lense.
In CoE the levy system won't work in the same way as Barons are directly appointed by Dukes through a contract rather than holding land as tenants-in-chief and counts aren't directly involved in warfare through virtue of their position.
Looks good, but did you consider the possibility that the destruction of New Haven might happen after launch? It's a bit risky to stake your backstory on something that will likely happen in the future.
